Biography
Aged 16 Simon started work in London as a £5 a week tea boy in a Soho film company. Learned film craft on location and in the cutting rooms making 35mm industrial documentaries.
At 18 joined BBC TV as a staff Film Editor and worked on Drama and Light Entertainment shows, then edited current affairs and sports programmes - Panorama, 24 Hours, Sportsnight, World Cup, Olympics and sports documentaries.
Edited documentary series like Horizon and The World About Us. Senior Film Editor on two major award winning series; Robert Kee's Ireland - A Television History and Jonathan Miller's The Body in Question.
Directed/Produced over 300 music and documentary programmes for BBC TV. Filmed across the UK, Russia, Australia, India, most European countries and the Caribbean. Directed/Produced scores of live outside broadcasts and multi-camera studio shows.
In 1997 became a freelance TV director and made series for BBC TV, Anglia TV, Meridian, GOD TV and independent producers.
In 2000 predicting that video on the internet would become the world's most powerful sales tool Simon equipped a video production unit to make dynamic and economic business video.
